More destruction in Mozambique
Storm Ana has hit Mozambique, Malawi and Madagascar in recent days and has left behind tens of thousands of homeless people and large areas cut off by the floods.
86 dead, including 18 in Mozambique.
The various perpetrators are now assessing the damage caused by the heavy rains that began last week on the Indian Ocean coast and in the Mozambique Channel.
After heavily hitting the Malagasy island, Ana reached northern and central Mozambique on Monday, hitting the provinces of Nampula, Zambezia, Tete, Niassa, Sofala and Manica. More than 10,000 homes were destroyed, along with bridges, power lines, schools, health facilities, water systems and other public infrastructure. Mozambique seems to have been particularly affected in recent years by similar phenomena.
Four to six cyclones are expected in the region by the end of March, which marks the end of the rainy season.
